Privacy Policy – Crystal Calendar

Introduction

This privacy policy is issued by easternspark ("we", "us", "our"), the developer of Crystal Calendar as listed on its Google Play Store page. It informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use Crystal Calendar, and tells you about your privacy rights.

By using Crystal Calendar you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

Permissions We Request

Crystal Calendar is a home-screen widget that shows your calendar events, so it needs the following device permissions to work. We list every permission the app requests and exactly why, so nothing is hidden:

• Calendar (READ_CALENDAR) — used to read the events, dates, times, and calendar names from the calendars already set up on your device, so they can be shown in the widget and in the app. This access is read-only: Crystal Calendar never creates, edits, or deletes anything in your calendars.
• Contacts (READ_CONTACTS) — used only to read birthday and anniversary dates you have saved on contacts in your Contacts app (along with the associated contact's display name), so those dates can optionally be shown alongside your calendar events. We do not read, use, or display phone numbers, email addresses, photos, or any other contact details.
• In-app billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — required by the Google Play Billing library so you can purchase the optional one-time premium upgrade. This permission only lets the app talk to Google Play's billing system; it does not give us access to your payment method or card details.

You can grant or revoke the Calendar and Contacts permissions at any time from your device's Settings. If a permission is not granted, the related feature (showing calendar events or contact birthdays/anniversaries) simply will not work, but the rest of the app continues to function.

Data Collection

Crystal Calendar does not have a backend server. All calendar events and contact birthdays/anniversaries read by the app are processed entirely on your device in order to display them in the widget and app screens. This data is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or with any third party.

The app also stores your widget configuration on your device — such as which calendars are selected, colors, icons, themes, and event filters you choose — so your settings persist between uses. This configuration data also stays on your device.

Secure Data Handling

Because Crystal Calendar has no backend server, your calendar events and contact birthdays/anniversaries are never transmitted over a network by the app — they are read from your device's Calendar and Contacts providers and kept only in the app's local, sandboxed storage and in memory, protected by your device's operating system and standard Android app-sandboxing. This data is not written to shared or public storage, and no other app can access it. We do not maintain any servers, databases, or backups containing your calendar or contact data, so there is no copy of it for us to secure, lose, or expose.

Data Retention

Calendar and contact data is read on demand to refresh the widget and is kept only in local, on-device storage (and briefly in memory) for as long as needed to display it. Your widget configuration is retained locally for as long as the app remains installed. We do not send any of this data to any servers.

Data Deletion

You can revoke the Calendar or Contacts permission at any time from your device's app settings, which stops the app from reading that data going forward. You can also clear the app's storage from Android Settings, or uninstall Crystal Calendar entirely, which removes all locally stored configuration data. Please note that once removed, this locally stored data cannot be recovered by us, as we never had a copy of it.

In-App Purchases

Crystal Calendar offers an optional, one-time premium upgrade processed entirely through the Google Play Store's billing system. We do not handle, see, or store any payment card or financial information — that is managed by Google and subject to Google Play's own terms and privacy policy. We do store, on your device, whether you have purchased the premium upgrade, so the app can unlock the corresponding features.

Advertising

Crystal Calendar does not display any advertisements and does not integrate any third-party advertising network.

Analytics

We do not embed any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK in Crystal Calendar ourselves. As with any app distributed through Google Play, Google may automatically collect basic, aggregated technical information (such as install counts, crashes, and ANRs) under its own Play Console policies. This collection is performed by Google, not by us, and we do not have access to it beyond aggregate statistics. Please refer to Google's own privacy policy for details on what Google Play collects.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your calendar data, contact data, or widget configuration with any third party, for advertising or any other purpose.

Children's Privacy

Crystal Calendar is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because we do not collect or transmit any personal information from anyone, no data about children is ever stored by us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, including as permissions or features change. By continuing to use Crystal Calendar after changes are published, you agree to the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

By using Crystal Calendar, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this privacy policy and agree to its terms and conditions.

Scope

This privacy policy applies only to Crystal Calendar and not to any third-party websites or services linked within the app.
